McKesson CEO John Hammergren visits Clear Lake, tours new distribution facility

CLEAR LAKE, IOWA – The CEO of one of Clear Lake’s most important employers came to town Monday and visited with city and state officials.

On June 13th, Clear Lake City officials welcomed the President and Chief Executive Officer of McKesson, John Hammergren.  Mr. Hammergren came to Clear Lake to view the company’s newest warehouse and distribution facility that was built in Clear Lake and recently became operational. The $80 million facility is a seven state regional warehouse and distribution center.

McKesson recently reached number five on the Fortune 500 list.  Currently, the company employs 110 employees approximately in Clear Lake with plans to expand to roughly 200 by January 2017.

Mayor Crabb, Scott Flory, city administrator, speaker of the house Linda Upmeyer, and Senator Amanda Reagan were invited by the company to meet with Hammergren.

Mr. Flory said that Mr. Hammergren “flew in from San Francisco. Arguably, America’s most successful CEO and business luminary. He spent 3 hours with us.”

McKesson bills itself as “the central nervous system of health care. At any given moment, in any given minute, we simultaneously execute thousands of critical operations that improve the businesses of our customers and the lives of their patients.”
