Eighth annual Golfweek Conference Challenge heads to Iowa

golfORLANDO, FL — Golfweek is gearing up for its eighth annual Conference Challenge Sept. 30-Oct. 2 where 12 top collegiate men’s teams will gather to compete at Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington, Iowa.

Since its inception in 2009, this elite event has attracted some of the best teams from each of the nation’s top conferences. This year’s field includes: Kansas, Texas A&M, Charleston Southern, Lipscomb University, James Madison, Idaho, McNeese State, Miami (Ohio), San Jose State, UMKC, Southern Illinois and University of Iowa.

“The Conference Challenge is always one of the most exciting events in the Golfweek Collegiate Series, and for 2016 we’re looking forward to bringing it back to Spirit Hollow for the seventh year in a row,” said Golfweek assistant editor and college golf expert Lance Ringler. “High-level Division I golfers haven’t had a lot of experience playing in the state of Iowa, and the teams that have participated have really enjoyed it. Spirit Hollow is a tremendous venue and has proven to be a very good challenge for some of the best in college golf.”

This year, the University of Iowa Hawkeyes will work to defend their 2015 team title during the jam-packed weekend. The tournament kicks off Friday morning at 9 a.m., and the event is open to the public with free admission.
