$4 million in state funds allocated for watershed projects

DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey today announced that eight watershed-based demonstration projects funded in 2013, and set to end this year, will receive a 2nd round of funding. The locally-led projects will build upon previous demonstration objectives and continue working towards accelerated implementation of practices that improve water quality.

Two North Iowa industrial sites designated as “project-ready”

DES MOINES – This week, Governor Terry Branstad, Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds and Director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority Debi Durham announced five industrial sites have achieved certification through the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) certified site program. These five sites are located in the communities of Forest City, Clinton, Grinnell, Waterloo and Osage.

Iowa Economic Development Board approves awards to support over $28 million in capital investments in Iowa

DES MOINES – The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) board awarded direct financial assistance and tax benefits to three companies for job creation and expansion projects. These awards will assist in the creation of 89 jobs and will result in over $28 million in new capital investment for the state.

U.S. unemployment rate declined to 4.6 percent in November

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The nation’s unemployment rate declined to 4.6 percent in November, and total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 178,000, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment gains occurred in professional and business services and in health care.
